1. White, Gillian B. “Searching for the Origins of the Racial Wage Gap in Jim Crow America.” The Atlantic, Atlantic Media Company, 9 Feb. 2016, www.theatlantic.com/business/archive/2016/02/the-o….

The author of the news in Atlantic website is Gillian B. White, who is a a senior associate editor for this Atlantic news. She was graduated from Columbia University’s bachelor’s degree, which majored in economics and political science. She was also graduated from Northwestern University’s master degree in journalism. The main argument of this news is that the black workers paid less ultimately because of the discrimination. Not directly from employers , but from the society. The overall social context causes the racial skill gap and thus the racial wealth gap. She provided some historical facts to explain the origin of the racial wage disparity. The evidence she uses was from a new paper from the National Bureau of Economic Research, the economists Celeste K. Carruthers and Marianne H. Wanamaker. I think the purpose of this news is to let more people realize the original reason of wealth gap. From my perspective, the resources is credible as the highly educated author described the historical reason based on professional scholars, economists Celeste K. Carruthers and Marianne H. Wanamaker.

2. DC, WASHINGTON. “The Wage Gap between White and Black Men Is Growing Wider.” The Economist, The Economist Newspaper, 7 July 2018, www.economist.com/united-states/2018/07/07/the-wag….

This article is from The Economist, which is a magazine format newspaper. The author, WASHINGTON, DC combined three scholars’ viewpoints and results. One is an influential sociologist, William Julius Wilson. The author referred to his book “The Declining Significance of Race” to analyze the change in racial wage gap from last century to nowadays. The other credible scholars are “the economists Patrick Bayer of Duke University and Kerwin Charles of the University of Chicago”. They provided evidences for why the racial wage gaps were underestimated. The purpose of his article is to expose the fact that the the reason of wage gap and the status quo. I think the article is credible as the author’s quotes are all from authorities.

3. USUAL WEEKLY EARNINGS OF WAGE AND SALARY WORKERS FIRST QUARTER 2019, Bureau of Labor Statistics, 16 Apr. 2019, www.bls.gov/news.release/pdf/wkyeng.pdf.

This article is from the political official website, Bureau of Labor Statistics. It is a federal agency that measures activities in U.S. labor market, as well as the working conditions. The main purpose of this article is to release the recent statistics about wages in different groups of people. Labors were divided by gender, race, ethnicity, occupation and education level. I found this source is credible since the authority of this official website.

4. Kochhar R, Fry R, Taylor P. Wealth gaps rise to record highs between whites, blacks and Hispanics. Pew Research Center; Washington, DC: 2011.

The book is written by Rakesh Kochhar, Richard Fry and Paul Taylor. Rakesh and Richard are senior researchers in Pew Research Center. Rakesh is an expert in wealth, income, and employment. Richard was a senior economist who worked for the Educational Testing Service before. The book collected the economic questionnaire results, influence of Great Recession and steep decline of housing values. All the analysis in this book are based on the valid data and tables or charts. The main purpose of this book is to report the results of Survey of Income and Program Participation and the economic trend in 21st century.

I think this source is credible as it covered a lot of research from Pew Research Center.
